Science: Students will design a parachute to fall in the thinner atmosphere on the surface of Mars. They will have constraints on building their parachutes to fit into limited space on the spaceship. They will work in groups to test and evaluate their designs. Students will take a short quiz on parachutes Wednesday, April 19th. They have recorded notes in class to prepare for the quiz.

Social Studies: We have been working on Chapter 11, To Declare Independence or Not. In this chapter students are planning a debate between the Patriots and the Loyalists. The debate will be next Monday 4/1. The study guide for this chapter will go out on Google Classroom on Monday 4/1 . The test will be after camp on Tuesday May 9th.

Religion: We continue in Chapter 18, The Liturgy of the Eucharist. Our focus has been on our hunger for spiritual food, happiness, and love. We have learned that only God can feed this hunger, for God alone is the source of true happiness. As students discuss Jesus last supper with his disciples, they will imagine a “Dream Meal.” Students will make a Dream Meal collage in class.

English/Language Arts: I hope you all had a relaxing break! Next week, students will have another day to write their essay, and we will begin peer reviews on Tuesday. I sent home permission slips for viewing the film. We will use this as an opportunity to compare and contrast the book and the film. Students can also expect another set of spelling words. Following this, we will begin the Genius Hour unit, which focuses on research and presentation skills. Have a great weekend.

Have a great weekend!
