Social Studies: Next week we will continue our student of Lesson 10, Tensions Grow Between the Colonies and Great Britain. Students are working in groups of three to complete Lesson 10 Reading Notes on Google Classroom. Then they list the causes and effects of each of the events we are learning in the book. They also fill out an “Unrestometer” to show how they feel they would feel about each event if they were the colonists. Looking ahead the test for this chapter will be on  3/25.

Science: Students begin a STEM unit in the Engineering is Elementary program titled: Aerospace Engineering: Designing Parachutes.

This unit introduces the field of aerospace engineering by guiding students to explore how aerospace engineers design and test technologies to be used in non-Earth environments. Hands-on activities, discussions, and readings are used to introduce students to the Engineering Design Process, the work of engineers.

English/Language Arts: Hello HRS families. Next week, we will continue with Wonder. As we get toward the end of the book, I will begin teaching how to write a theme essay, which is our summative assessment for the novel. My goal is for students to finish their final draft before Spring Break. I will put several resources on Google Classroom for students and families to look at at home. In the meantime, there will be a new double-entry on Google Classroom for at home reading. There will also be a spelling test next Friday. Have a great weekend!

Religion: 5A and 5B will meet together next week to bond and review their Lenten Goals. Students will also work together on lessons from the Second Step program.

Students will identify consequences of seeking revenge as well as alternatives to seeking revenge. Students will learn and practice calming-down steps.

Students will also learn strategies for handling put-downs and demonstrate assertive responses to put-downs.

Have a great weekend!
