After the conference/Thanksgiving week, we will complete our 4th unit on multiplying and dividing of fractions and mixed numbers. The students are recognizing the similarity in both operations with fractions. We are also continuing to stress the importance of reading questions carefully, showing clear steps, and asking if our answers are reasonable. I hope that you have a productive conference and a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Religion: Sunday Dec. 1st begins the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a period of simple living and extra prayer. It is a time to prepare for a new coming of Jesus our Savior. Students will discover how the Church welcomes adults and children through the RCIA process.
Reading: tba
Social Studies: We have begun Chapter 6, Early English Settlements. In this chapter we will learn about three English Settlements, Roanoke, Jamestown and Plymouth. Students will be learning about these three places by preparing for an Act-it-Out. Students then do the Act-it-Out in class as a culminating event.
Science: Students will begin Lesson 4, “How Are Plants Classified?” Students will learn how scientists classify plants and what mosses, ferns, conifers, and flowering plants are.
Language Arts: When we return from Thanksgiving break, we will have one more spelling quiz before Christma break! It will be on Lesson 5, challenge words included, on December 13th. Words can be found on my website: https://6b.holyrosaryws.org/5th-la/.
